MY APPROACH

“There is more beauty in truth, even if it is a dreadful beauty. The storytellers at the city gate twist life so that it looks sweet to the lazy and the stupid and the weak, and this only strengthens their infirmities and teaches nothing, cures nothing, nor does it let the heart soar.”

WHAT ARE WEDDING PHOTOS FOR?

Here’s the thing: they aren't about looking flawless. They aren't about rehearsed laughter or stiff poses. And they definitely aren't about staging a version of your wedding that never really happened.

John Steinbeck put it perfectly:

“There is more beauty in truth, even if it is a dreadful beauty. The storytellers at the city gate twist life so that it looks sweet… and this only strengthens their infirmities and teaches nothing, cures nothing, nor does it let the heart soar.”

If your photos are overly staged or scripted, they might look polished - but they don’t mean anything.

They’re surface-level pretty, and pretty alone fades fast. In the moment, it might feel exciting to nail the perfect pose, but ten years from now, that pose won’t remind you what the champagne tasted like, how your best friend’s voice cracked during their speech, or the way you laughed so hard you couldn't breathe when the cake toppled over.

A staged photograph will show you what you looked like. A truthful photograph will take you back to who you were. And that’s the difference between something decorative and something that actually lives.

And here’s the most freeing part: your wedding doesn’t have to be perfect. Steinbeck again:

“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”

Good is real. Good is beautiful. Good is everything.

ABOUT YOU

You don’t just want pretty pictures, you want your story told in moments, not poses. The stolen smiles, the chaotic joy, the tears and laughter - they should all live in every frame.
