Farnham Castle Wedding | Olivia + Ben

These are AMAZING!!! Thank you so much!!!

You captured the day perfectly and we’re so happy with our gallery of tears, smiles and laughs.

We’ve had so many comments from guests about how good you were, we can’t wait to share the pictures!

Thanks so much again, Olivia and Ben

Welcome to my gallery of Farnham Castle wedding photography from Olivia and Liam’s Winter wedding in 2017.

How did you meet?

We met at work, we were given desks next to each other but the boss soon separated us for chatting and laughing too much!

What is/are the thing(s) you like most about the other?

We’re a perfect match. We think and feel the same way about things, we have the same values and priorities and above all we’re best friends.

Please describe the proposal, where it happened, did you have any idea it was coming. How did you feel?

Ben proposed to me one Sunday morning at home. It was completely out of the blue and very natural, we were in the kitchen chatting away and suddenly he got down on one knee. I burst into tears and said yes immediately!

Why did you choose your venue(s) and what did you most like about them?

We loved Farnham Castle the second we saw it! The ceremony room was beautiful and romantic and the dining room was grand and stunning. The staff there were amazing and the food was excellent.

Where did you get ready? Please describe who was there and was the atmosphere was like, fun, anxious, boozy etc?

We both got ready at the venue. My mum and sister helped me (with champagne) in a little cottage in the grounds. I was more excited than nervous and couldn’t wait for Ben to see me in my dress! Ben got ready with his best men in the bridal suite.

Where was the ceremony? Please describe what you planned for your ceremony, any readings or personal touches. How did you feel during the ceremony, when it was over and you walked down the aisle etc.

Walking into the ceremony room with my dad and seeing Ben watching me was amazing! His eyes welled up straight away and I was so busy looking at him that I forgot to smile at our guests! The ceremony was lovely, not too long with a couple of readings that we had asked Ben’s sister and my sister in law to read. It went by too quickly but we loved every second of it!

Where was the drinks reception? Please describe what you planned i.e. lawn games, live music etc. Did it happen the way you planned, did the weather get in the way?

The weather was surprisingly good for mid-November! We had clear skies and warm sunshine so we had drinks outside the front of the castle. It was so lovely to hug and chat to all our friends and family.

Was your portrait session fun or painful, do you wish you’d spent more or less time?

The portrait session was surprisingly fun! It was quick and we laughed our way through it with Graham. We’re very happy with the mix of photos that we’ve got, almost all natural with a couple of naturally posed ones for our parents to show off.

Please describe the speeches, were they a laugh a minute, did you remember lost friends and family etc.

The speeches were great! There was a lot of laughter and a few tears.

Please describe the “after-show party”. Did you have a live band, was everyone at the bar doing shots all evening, did you all fall over at the end?

We had a live band and lots of dancing in the evening. There was a bar area where people were chatting and catching up. We were having so much fun that it went by so quickly but we loved being surrounded by our family and friends.

What did you want your wedding to “feel” like, relaxed, formal, festival etc?

The main thing we wanted was for everyone to have a good time! We didn’t have a particular theme or anything because that wouldn’t have been very us. We wanted a relaxed, laughter-filled winter wedding and I think that’s what we got.

What were you most nervous about?

Ben was a little nervous about his speech and I was nervous of tripping up whilst walking down the aisle! Other than that we weren’t very nervous at all. We knew we were in good hands with the amazing staff at Farnham Castle and that really helped us enjoy the day and make the most of every minute.

What was your favourite part of the day?

It’s hard to pick one part of the day as a favourite. A highlight was at the end of the ceremony walking out of the room as a married couple, holding hands and seeing our lovely family and friends grinning at us. We also loved it when all the formalities were done and everyone got on the dance floor and let their hair down!

What is the biggest piece of advice you could give to couples planning their own wedding?

Don’t forget that it’s all about the two of you. Make it your day and enjoy every moment of it.

Why did you choose me instead of one of the other 85,000 wedding photographers?

We loved Graham’s natural style and the way he seemed to really capture the atmosphere and feelings of the day. We didn’t want lots of artificially  posed pictures of us with distant relatives, we wanted photos of people laughing, crying, caught up in a moment, enjoying the day and that’s exactly what we got!

Please list any of your suppliers that you would like mentioned in the blog post:

Everyone at Farnham Castle was amazing, especially Natalie.
The band, Buddhalicious were brilliant and I was thrilled with my hair and make up, done by Olivia Mills who was so lovely!
