Orleans House Gallery
Hello, I’m Graham. Since 2005 I’ve photographed over a dozen weddings at Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham next to the River Thames and even in the worst weather this venue has never let me down. Built in 1710 the Octagon room where the wedding ceremony is held could have been designed with wedding photography in mind as at the right time of day the light is almost like being in a photography studio. With capacity for up to 60 guests it’s guaranteed to make intimate weddings feel rather grand.
GETTING MARRIED AT ORLEANS HOUSE GALLERY
Here are my top tips about holding your wedding ceremony at Orleans House Gallery. Because of the usual difficulties with traffic and parking you may want to suggest to your guests that they arrive early and have a drink at The White Swan, literally a few minutes walk from Orleans House. Alternatively you can hold a pre-ceremony drinks reception on the lawn at Orleans House itself. Either way, your guests will be in a great mood for the ceremony.
DRINKS RECEPTION AT ORLEANS HOUSE GALLERY
A good drinks reception is the key to making sure your wedding day is talked about for years to come. If the weather is nice you’ll be on the gallery lawns where if it’s too hot you can make use of the shade from the trees. If it’s raining you’ll want to take advantage of the light in the Octagon Room for any family photos you need taking.
As a working gallery Orleans House isn’t geared up for hosting the rest of the wedding so you’ll need to find an alternative venue. Top of the list are Bingham Riverhouse, Petersham Nurseries, The Britannia Pub, The Marlborough Pub on Richmond Hill and The Petersham Hotel. Whichever you choose you’re guaranteed to have a great day.
