Stoke Place Wedding Photographer {When Suzy & Olly got Married}
Is Stoke Place the perfect wedding venue?
I certainly think so and so do my many couples who have chosen to get married there. Ok, I’ll say it. Stoke Place is my favourite wedding venue in the whole of the UK. It often feels as if it had been built specifically for photography. With large, bright and airy rooms being a wedding photographer at Stoke Place is a real treat. From late February through to early November the Sun pours in through the windows lighting up the beautifully restored interiors. With 26 acres of beautiful parkland designed by Capability Brown there are plenty of opportunities for photography within the grounds and in inclement weather the South facing room make an ideal place to shoot those all important family photos. With 40 rooms your guests won’t need to worry about getting home and why would they want to?
Suzy and Olly had their wedding on the hottest AND wettest day of the year. Suzy’s preparations were set against the backdrop of a beautiful late Summer afternoon with guests mingling in the grounds sipping Champagne and getting to know each other. By the time of the ceremony everything had changed. Rather unusually the Registrar insisted that I stood “inconspicuously” on top a radiator that was on at full blast. With my shoes starting to melt and the Sun cooking me through the window it was with some relief that the sky clouded over, and then it rained… and rained and rained again. You know the confetti shot is going to be a challenge when the rain is bouncing 4 feet off the paving. Wet confetti makes a terrible mess of the Bride’s dress : )
By the time the ceremony had ended it was a gorgeous hot sunny day again. As a wedding photographer in the UK you really do have to be prepared for every eventuality so after quickly polishing off the family photos and confetti shot I was looking forward to a walk around the grounds with Suzy & Olly to get those all important photos of the two of them alone together… and then it started to rain again. Really hard. No problem! While your Uncle Bob with a nice camera might be a bit scuppered any Stoke Place wedding photographer worth their salt is going to take it in their stride and welcome the challenge. We can’t have it easy all the time : )
I’ll leave the last words to Olly himself “Amazing day and amazing photos, if you are looking for a photographer that gives you something different and an uber cool venue (Arne Jacobsen everywhere) then Graham and Stoke Place are for you. Thanks for the awesome album Graham!!”
